ASSIST Alert Service is a new system service that automatically identifies when a document of interest has either changed or has been added to ASSIST, and electronically notifies participating users when these changes occur. Each user having an ASSIST-Online account has the ability to update their individual alert profile to specify those documents for which alerts should be issued. On a daily basis, the ASSIST Alert Service will generate user-specific alert notifications - email messages that uniquely list document information matching individual alert profiles.
ASSIST provides a related application called My Alert Portal, for users to access alerted documents. My Alert Portal can be accessed through hyperlinks embedded in each alert notification message. New menu options and buttons within ASSIST-Online provide direct links to My Alert Portal as well. Within each user's portal, you have the ability to scroll through related document lists, access revision history information, and view documents online. My Alert Portal maintains a list of all documents matching alert criteria during the previous two weeks and, therefore, is a constantly changing window of information.
The ASSIST Update is a bimonthly summary of changes to the ASSIST document database that is provided in Portable Document Format on this web site. The ASSIST update provides up-to-date information on changes to the ASSIST database.
Individual documents are available from the DODSSP in paper format, FREE OF CHARGE. The quickest method for accessing these documents is to use ASSISTQuick Search, or go to ASSIST-Online.
Orders for individual documents can be made by using the DODSSP Specifications and Standards Order Form (DAPS-Phila 1425). This downloadable order form is in Portable Document Format (.pdf) can be accessed using Adobe's free Acrobat Reader Version 3.0 or later.
You will find that this form is interactive, with various "live" buttons and text fields allowing you to complete them on-screen. Currently, your only options for submitting the form are by mail or fax. Address and fax information is on the form.
All customers should use the ASSIST Online Registration Form available via the ASSIST-Online page to register for ASSIST-Online access. This registration and access is free of charge.
